Our journey began over a decade ago with a simple challenge that transformed into a lifelong passion for creativity, craftsmanship, and exploration. It all started when my wife, captivated by a beautiful but expensive end table, expressed her desire to own it. Instead of purchasing it, I decided to take a bold step and try building it myself. Though she was hesitant, she agreed to let me try.
I immersed myself in hours of YouTube tutorials, learning the fundamentals of woodworking. From selecting the right materials to understanding the tools required for the job, I took a deep dive into this new world of craftsmanship. I gathered my supplies, including a stack of raw wood, and got to work. It was not an effortless process; there were mistakes that I made along the way, but I persevered. In a matter of weeks, I presented her with a stunning, hand-crafted table that surprised us both. This was the first time that I had taken raw material and transformed it into something beautiful and functional. That moment ignited a passion that would shape our future.
Over the years, woodworking has become more than just a hobby—it has become a part of my identity. I began creating a variety of pieces, including tables, desks, cutting boards, custom cabinets, cell phone charging stations, and wall-mounted bottle openers. Each project deepened my appreciation for the art of craftsmanship and taught me valuable lessons about patience, precision, and the joy of creating something with my hands.
As my skills evolved, so did our inspiration. My wife and I share a deep love for travel and adventure. The places we have visited, from bustling cities to serene landscapes, have become a wellspring of creativity. The different textures, colors, and stories of so many diverse cultures began influencing my designs. Whether it was the warm tones of a Mediterranean sunset or the intricate patterns of traditional Mexican tiles, each journey enriched my perspective and translated into the items I crafted.
By 2020, I knew it was time to take the next step. Together with my wife, I launched Horacio & Visconti Custom Design—a creative venture that combined our love for design, artistry, and exploration. As a husband-and-wife team, we are committed to crafting one-of-a-kind pieces that tell stories and celebrate individuality. We have also launched our new Horacio & Visconti Journeys website so we can share our past and future travels through our blogs.
